Axe Valley Academy

Enrichment Activities

Students are encouraged to enrich their academic studies with the many opportunities offered to them.  We feel very strongly that widening students experiences beyond the curriculum is crucial.  These experiences enhance key skills, bolster CVs and personal statements and are often remembered long after a student into new fields.

Sometimes activities are subject based.  Recent visits have included:
Sixth Form Volunteering
Subject Ambassadors
PSHE Day Mental Health Awareness
Economics and Philosophy London Trip
Institute of Economic Affairs Bursary
Politics PSHE Day Feb 2015
Introduction to PPE at Exeter University

Sometimes activities are pastoral based.
Golf Championships
Duke of Edinburgh Award
Lessons from Auschwitz experience
MCM Comic Con
National Citizenship Scheme
Sutton Trust USA
Sport Leadership
Sixth Form Prom 2015

Built into the pastoral system is the facility for sixth formers to put something back into the college. One tutor slot a week is devoted to community activities.  This may be used for a student to attend AXEUS, support lower school tutor activities or attend extra curricular activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh qualifications.
