Diana Darke, BBC Broadcaster and Author Visits Axe Valley 6th Form

4 November 2016

The Axe Valley Community College 6th Formers were extremely fortunate to receive a visit from BBC Syria Correspondent, Diana Darke.  Ms Darke gave a very informative presentation to the students on her recently published book, “My House in Damascus – An Inside View of the Syrian Revolution”.  The book gives an amazing account of living and working in a country which is at the top of our news feeds on a daily basis. The insightful presentation was brought to life by vivid photographs and reference to information in her book.

The presentation not only charted the journey of the restoration of her beautiful and ancient house, but cleverly interwove this with a historic journey through Syrian History to bring the students and staff up to date with current troubles in Syria. Everyone came away from the event with a better understanding of events in this part of the world.
