Membership to the PTFA is automatic for all parents, carers, teachers and friends of The Axe Valley Community College. Helping with the PTFA it is a great way to meet other parents and carers, get to know the teachers and show your children how important you believe the college and their education is.

Everyone is welcome to our meetings where we organise fundraising and allocation of funds. Please come along and share your views, everyone is welcome, but if you can’t make meetings but would like to help with events or share your ideas, please get in touch via the college email address.

Local Giving: Inspired by the success of other local charities the PTFA is a member of LocalGiving.com. Local Giving is a website based company that helps charities and PTFAs with their fundraising. It is able to give the PTFA the GiftAid applicable to donations as well as offering other benefits.

Christmas Fair 2015

The Axe Valley Community College Christmas Fair held at the Axminster Guildhall last  Saturday afternoon was a huge Christmassy success and a lovely start to the festive season.

The PTFA ran refreshment stalls with soups, quesadillas and light lunches as well as delicious mocktails, gingerbread, fudge and cakes. Over several months parents  have been making cushions, jumpers, wreaths and advent calendars for the craft stall. The Raffle and tombola were great fun and complemented by the Lucky Bottle game stall.

Private stallholders included a range of local craftspeople including local winemakers Devon Vineyards, Love that Colour stained glass artist, Glitter Gems offering lampshades and upcycled furniture, Fings ‘n’ Stuff with bunting, cushions and wreaths as well as jewellery, cards and skincare products. In addition Whoopsadaisy had a stall with pottery painting and The Sewing Room offered a sewing workshop. There was so much to see and do for all ages.

To accompany the event singers and performers from the College played festive music throughout the day including solo pieces by Jess Hill, Holly Stock, Emma Heighway and Layla James. Flautist Katie Burnett played two sets and the Year 9 Steel Pan Band played Silent Night, Jingle Bells and Ding Dong Merrily on High.

The proceeds of the event added up to almost £800 which will be used to support the music department at the college as well as support local charities Hospiscare, ARC and the Axminster Food Bank.

Thank you to everyone who made the event such a wonderful occasion.
