Network Access Update

Due to essential maintenance to the college’s electricity supply we have had to shut down the college network for next three days; we anticipate that network access will be available again on Friday. 

We will post further updates should this plan change.

OneDrive replaces SkyDrive

Following on from the recent changes to the college email, Microsoft have relaunched SkyDrive with a new name OneDrive. OneDrive is an online (cloud) storage facility giving every student an additional 7GB  of storage.

Microsoft Office 2013 Free to College Students

Microsoft now allow you to download office for free whilst you are a student at Axe Valley Community College

To install the latest version of Office


  1. Sign in to your email by using your username and password.

  2. At the top right of the page, click Settings   > Office 365 Settings.

  3. Click Software.

  4. On the Office page, select a Language, and then click Install



Note Office installs the 32-bit version on your PC by default, even if your computer is running a 64-bit version of Windows. If you are unsure which version of Office you should install, see Which version is best for me? 

Tech Without Tears

On Thursday 25th April, Cosmic have kindly agreed to offer advice and to talk to parents and students about the best IT solutions currently available.

They will have examples of various gadgets for a ‘hands on’ experience, educational apps and software, as well as provide advice on topics such as safety online, parental controls and age appropriate IT.

They will be available from 5pm to 7pm in the Conference suite which can be accessed on the evening via the Sixth Form Centre. Parents from all years are welcome.

I am learning

The college is about to begin a 12 month trial of the revision and homework package “I am learning”. “I am learning” is a games based revision and assessment system which we hope will engage learners and support revision, study, knowledge consolidation, assessment and exam practice both in and outside of school.
