Posted: 7 February 2018

Dear Parents and Carers of Year 8 Students

GCSE Options

At this point in the year, Year 8 students begin the process of choosing the subjects that they would like to study for the next three years. In order to help young people to make these important decisions, we are holding our Combined Parents’ and Options Information Evening on Wednesday 28 February.

The evening will begin at 4:15pm with a short presentation in the Main Hall. Following this, you will be able to speak with the various subject specialists by making an appointment through the Parent Evening booking system ( The booking system will open for bookings from Tuesday 13 February until Sunday 25 February. For the subjects that are not currently taught at key stage 3, Business Studies, Health and Social Care and Sport, you can attend a presentation; each subject presentation will run at three times throughout the evening. Timings of these presentations can be found at the back of the options information booklet which we have enclosed with this letter.

The all-important options form will be available during the evening and we ask that these forms are returned to us by Wednesday 14 March so that we can begin the process of timetabling for next year.

I do hope that all Year 8 students and their parents and carers will be able to attend this important event but if you need any further help in the meantime, please feel free to contact Mrs Osborne, the Year 8 Leader at or myself, Mr Cumming, Assistant Headteacher responsible for our curriculum at

I look forward to welcoming you on the 28th.

Yours faithfully

K Cumming
Assistant Headteacher

Anti-bullying Week, 13th to 17th November 2017

Posted: 1 December 2017

On Monday the 13th November the whole school came in wearing odd socks! What a cheerful colourful day that was!

The theme for this year’s Anti Bullying Week was ‘All Different, All Equal’, staff and students across England wore odd socks to show that it is important to be you and to value differences.

During the week many pupils created cards to show what ‘All Different, All Equal’ means to them. These cards were then threaded on to string to form a garland and are now hanging around the quad.

Also, the week after, students from the Learning Support Department hand printed a section of wall to support the differences and equalities theme.

Thank you to every-one who joined in with activities and helped to raise awareness.

Olive Fitzgerald
Anti Bullying Ambassador

Thank you,

Funds Raised for Children in Need

Posted: 1 December 2017

On Friday the 17th of November, the school raised money for the annual charity event, Children in Need. The fundraising activities were arranged by the Student Voice Team and included; a cake sale, selfie with our very own Pudsey Bear, a treasure hunt and sponge the student voice team. All of the activities were well supported by our students, especially the sponging, and combined with the total raised by the non-uniform day, the school raised an amazing figure of £814.07! I would like to thank everyone who donated cakes, who took part in the treasure hunt , threw water or got wet and of course everyone who got into the spirit of the day with fancy dress, sports and donations.
